Ankara – There has been enough again for Recep Tayyip Erdogan: His AKP has in the newly elected parliament of Ankara with 100 percent of the deputies an absolute majority. Made possible by a political maneuver by President Erdogan, who today retrospectively introduced a 40 per cent threshold for parliamentary elections.
Postal clear case ( diagram click to enlarge ) The loud Erdogan’ already long-planned step’ was necessary to prevent a fragmentation of the party system. Therefore the law to 40 – percent threshold, it should be introduced immediately after the announcement of the initial projections on election night.
‘ I am proud of our democracy’, Erdogan said today before assembled journalists.’ It is the only party that has the 40 – percent threshold skipped scarce, we represent the people. Only we. So I. I. Just Me.’ All other parties such as the CHP ( 25.1 percent ), the MHP ( 16.4 percent ) or the pro-Kurdish HDP ( 13.1 ) do not pull in the Grand National Assembly.
The next order of business Erdogan would like to invite the leaders of the G7 to the G8 summit in the Turkish Presidential Palace.
